How to Change the Owner of a .ro Domain?
If you want to transfer the ownership of a .ro domain to another person or entity, you need to follow a specific procedure. It's important to understand how this process works, as it involves both technical and financial aspects.
Change of Owner and Domain Renewal
When you initiate a request to change the owner of a .ro domain, two things happen simultaneously:
-
The expiration date is reset: The domain's expiration date will be reset to the day the transfer is completed. For example, even if your domain was set to expire in six months, after the procedure is finalized, the new expiration date will be exactly one year from the date of the request.
-
The domain is renewed for one year: The change of ownership is conditional on renewing the domain for one year. To complete the modification, you will need to pay a renewal fee that covers this additional period.
Data Update Period and "Freezing" of Information
After the modification has been performed by the support team, the new owner has 72 hours to update their contact details (address, email, phone number, etc.) in the domain's control panel.
It is crucial that this information is updated within this timeframe. After 72 hours, the owner's information is "frozen" and can no longer be modified.
If you need to make another change to the data after this period, you will have to go through the entire ownership transfer process again. This means you will need to pay the renewal fee again, and the domain's validity period will be extended for another year, following the initial procedure.
Information Required for the Transfer
To initiate the change of ownership process, you don't need a formal request or scanned documents. All you have to do is send a clear message to the support team requesting the modification.
In your message, it is mandatory to provide all complete details of the new owner. Make sure this information is accurate and complete to avoid delays or issues.
For individuals, the following are required:
