What is a .pl domain?

.pl is the country code domain of Poland. It is managed by NASK, the Polish national registry, through its Krajowy Rejestr Domen (dns.pl). A .pl address tells visitors and search engines that your website is meant for Poland and for Polish-speaking customers, which is why most Polish companies, online shops and public bodies use it.

What country is the .pl domain?

Anyone. NASK sets no nationality or residence requirement: individuals and companies from any country can register a .pl domain, and you do not need a Polish company, address or local representative.

.pl domain registration requirements

• Name: up to 63 characters, letters a–z, digits and hyphens; it cannot start or end with a hyphen or have hyphens in both the third and fourth positions.
• Polish letters: names with Polish characters, such as ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź and ż, are accepted as internationalised domain names.
• Contact details: the registrant's name or company name, postal address, e-mail address and phone number, kept correct and up to date.
• Period: 1 year, renewed every year.

What happens when a .pl domain expires?

Renew it before the expiry date from your client area; we send renewal reminders by e-mail. If a .pl domain is not renewed on time, the website and e-mail on it stop working, and recovering it after expiry can cost more than a renewal. After that period, anyone can register the name.

Is a .pl domain good for SEO in Poland?
